What is 3-D Laser
Scanning?
3-D Laser Scanning by SurvTech Solutions is the
utilization of a Laser Scanning system, in our case the
Leica ScanStation to recreate a man made or natural object(s)
in AutoCAD format for a variety of uses. By utilizing a
scanning laser beam, the Station will translate the features
of the subject being scanned into a point cloud containing
various data points, the point cloud is then rendered in the
CAD program and the information can then be used for
realizing existing conditions and structures, planning and
future construction or comparison. Types of surveying that
most benefit from the speed and accuracy 3-D Laser Scanning
offers are Volume Calculations, As Built Surveys, and
Topographic Surveys, but that's not even the tip of the
